IELTS WRITING;

"Nowadays more people are choosing to live with friends or alone rather than with their families.This trend is likely to have a negative impact on communities.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?"

Today, “living alone” is a new trend. People would like to live alone or with their friends rather than with their families. This circumstance potentially has a negative impact on communities. Although there are negative impacts at living with friends or alone on communities, I believe that its positive effects should not be ignored.

On the one hand, concept of family is an important element to the life of people who are at specific age groups. We all have learned how to speak or communicate or act with societies. Furthermore, family life provides a world for us, which minimizes the bad affect and maximizes the comfort. What is more, it protects us against bad habits like drug addiction, intoxication and etc. These factors are important in order to build communities.

On the other hand, despite its negative impact, living with friends or alone certainly has positive effects on communities. Firstly, living separately from family brings upon self-confidence on people. In fact, they learn how to stand up their own two feet, and should cope with the problems of everyday life. Taxes, electric or water bills, even government policies are more important than before. Secondly, the people become aware of the environment and public problems. We all live in a complex interdependent society and must learn how to deal with difficulties. People living alone become well-rounded individuals, which creates better communities.

For the reasons mentioned above, it seems to me that the trend of living alone is more likely to have a positive impact on communities if compare to a negative impact on it.
